Solo PvE CoP build
I'm looking for a CoP build that can be used while H&H'ing. Not sure if it can be done as a N/Me, rather than a Me/X cause I play as a N/Me.
Thanks

Cry Of Pain isn't useful enough to base a single build around, it only really excels in team builds that are dedicated to the use of it.
Just use it as an addition to a regular bar. As you're a Necro, i'd take SS and use a Curses setup, I guess you could throw in Cry of Pain for an interupt/random damage.

Just to back up what morkai said. CoP is only usefull where the whole team are using it, so you get a 6 x CoP which is an instant 600damage (with 6 full ranked CoPs, and 1 healer, and 1 tank)
I suppose if your good at keeping your enemies mobbed then it would be kinda useful for easy large daamge interrupt.
Keep in mind you'l need a mesmer hex to trigger it, and can either take lo sha with you or carry a mesmer hex yourself. But you'd probably be much more effective taking SS, and mark of pain etc and have a necro hero MM bombing.

not sure which campaigns you have, but if you are running a necro, and are only H/Hing, then i would just run something like:
[Assassin's Promise][You Move Like A Dwarf!]Ebon Vangaurd Assassin Support][Mark of Pain][Rigor Mortis][Finish Him!][Enfeebling Blood][optional]
much better at producing mass damage than a single CoP. like everyone else said, you only see CoP's real potential when you have several people running it.

If you people are seriously trying to tell the OP that a 100 armor ignoring damage nonelite AoE nuke, with utility to boot (What? CoP as an interrupt, Who would have thought?) is useless outside of a human party then I have completely lost faith in the PvE population. Granted, it takes up a pve slot, but it sure as hell is one of the better skills to fill that.

I run the following in the Under World with relatively no problem. (1 man 6 heroes team)
[Vision of Regret] [empathy] [Cry of pain] [Ebon assassin support] [auspicious incantation] [pain inverter] [ether feast] [resurrection skill]
If you trust your team of Heros and hench you can remove the last two and add a drain enchantment skill and a disruption
If you are looking for the heroes setup check the Heroes AI section (I rent heroes from other players)
Know your enemy and there habits ebon is a special to me it serves 3 purposes (disruption, Spike damage, and most import fodder)

You can always run a [Lyssa's Aura] bar, or just pump up 14 soul reaping (for energy) and take things like wandering eye, clumsiness, VoR, Cry of Pain, etc.... Pretty much a standard tendril build from DoA would work as a fairly-decent General-PvE build

QFT. What those imprecise posters really mean is that CoP iS BEST when used en-masse, not that its only good when used by a lot of people. My suggestion is to use it in combo with necrosis and discord heroes. Remember though, CoP's damage only triggers if the target is suffering from a mesmer hex, so you'll need to take one along for it to be effective. Make sure you pick a good one, as many mesmer hexes have very long cast times without the aid of fast casting. Good hunting...

You're an idiot.
Cry of Pain is still, as stated, pretty damn useless to base another 7 skills around, when used on one character .

Last I checked there is no reason why something like Arcane Echo/CoP and a whole bunch of illusion crap isn't at the very least viable. Also pretty sure that group cryers don't base every other skill around fueling Cry - so what the hell made you think that I was suggesting to do such a thing?
Necromancers definitely have far more efficient builds than Cry of Pain spammers when H/Hing. However, you'd be stupid to deny the fact that it is a skill worth devoting a couple of other skills to, simply due to it's insane damage, AoE and utility.

With cry of pain I have done allot more then 500 damage with it in fact I think I hit at least 10 enemies with it at once. It is a PVE skill so you need to take it for what it is worth. Basically a beefed up skill that is unbalanced a bit. No different then the ursan crap you use to do, etc… They should have tied it to fast casting in some way or form for the damage or amount of enemies it hit. But they didn't which open the doors to "no attributes" spent for any class that can cause 100 damage to foes around your target. No attributes at all are needed to do this. None at all and it is an easy to farm title for max damage. Most hard mode builds base around it with assassins promise for repeat spike damage. It speeds the battle and makes it more fun to vanquish. And with today’s concept of fun (Meta group builds for PVE) fast damage is the only way. I only base my build on a skill if my purpose is to farm. With that in mind try a balanced build. Make use of the skills they give you, and if it gets boring change the skills around. I have many builds that have no elite or pve skills and I like running them. Of course I would never use them in elite areas but other places who cares.
